Gautam Adani, an industrial conglomerate leader and world’s 28th richest person, has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform India’s healthcare landscape. He announced that the Adani group will invest over ₹60,000 crore (US $686 million) to establish two major health campuses in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic Global Consulting team, aims to combine cutting-edge technology with comprehensive medical services, creating what Adani calls “healthcare temples.” A key focus will be integrating AI into diagnostics, treatment planning, and hospital management to improve accuracy, efficiency, and the overall patient experience.
Each campus will feature multi-specialty hospitals, medical colleges, transitional care centers, and advanced research facilities, delivering affordable yet world-class care.
Adani highlighted that these facilities will address India’s growing burden of non-communicable diseases while contributing to global medical research through innovation hubs and academic collaborations. With Mayo Clinic’s expertise in clinical excellence and hospital design, the campuses are expected to meet the highest international standards.
The project is also envisioned as a model for affordable healthcare at scale, serving both urban and underserved communities. Plans include telemedicine integration, rural outreach programs, and AI-enabled preventive care, ensuring benefits extend far beyond Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
Construction is set to begin in the coming months, with phased operations expected before the end of the decade. If successful, these “healthcare temples” could redefine how large-scale medical infrastructure is designed and delivered in India.
