I. Overview
World Vitiligo Day (WVD) is observed annually on June 25 to raise awareness about vitiligo, a chronic skin condition characterized by the loss of pigmentation in patches of skin. WVD is also known as Purple Fun Day. Established in 2011 by non-profit organizations from the USA and Nigeria, WVD aims to highlight the challenges faced by individuals with vitiligo and promote understanding, acceptance, and support.
II. Significance of the Theme 2025:
The 2025 theme emphasizes the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in revolutionizing vitiligo care. By leveraging AI, the campaign seeks to improve diagnosis, treatment, and patient support, ensuring equitable access to care for all individuals affected by vitiligo.
