Elon Musk has issued a warning about the future of artificial intelligence, saying society should brace for a major transition as machines grow more capable. Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience last week, Musk said the world is heading toward a point where most physical work becomes optional because AI and robotics will take over a majority of tasks. He described the coming shift as a “supersonic tsunami” and predicted “a lot of trauma” as economies and labour markets struggle to adjust. Musk also said that if AI intelligence continues to rise, it could eventually “rule the world in the long term,” altering power structures and challenging human control.
This aligns with his earlier prediction that AI coauld one day become smarter than the combined intelligence of all humans. During the conversation, he also pointed to humanoid robots like Tesla’s Optimus, suggesting future versions could perform complex duties, even surgical tasks, and dramatically reshape daily life.
