National Sports Day is celebrated annually on August 29 in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, one of the country’s most legendary hockey players. Known as the “Wizard of Hockey,” Major Dhyan Chand led India to three Olympic gold medals in 1928, 1932, and 1936.
