V. A Brief History of IDPWD
1981: UN declared the International Year of Disabled Persons, focusing on equality and full participation of persons with disabilities in society.
1992: The UN General Assembly proclaims 3 December as International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
2006: Adoption of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
2015: Inclusion in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
2018: UN Flagship “Report on Disability and Development” was released.
2016-21: Emphasis on sustainable development, resilience and inclusive societies.
